Facing west, stand with
heels together. Sword is held in left hand, handle down and tip up along the
back of the arm. Thumb and ring finger circle the handle at the guard and index
and middle finger point towards the butt. Right hand is in sword finger
configuration and relaxed along the right thigh, fist heart pointing to the
rear.

Finger Thrust to Bow and Arrow
With right hand in
sword finger position, turn the right fist heart up and sweep right hand to
left axilla. Step North to right bow and arrow and
finger thrust with right hand to shoulder height, fist eye up.

Finger Thrust to Opening Stance.
With left arm extended
fist heart down, sweep the sword handle across the body to shoulder height
while withdrawing right sword fingers, fist heart up, to the waist, turning
right toes in 45 degrees. Block down with the sword and finger thrust to North
while stepping to opening stance facing west.

Finger thrust to Opening Stance.
Sweep the sword up in
front of the sternum, fist heart down. Turn the fist heart out and backhand
sweep with the sword to a left bow and arrow stance facing South. The right
fingers remain in position pointing behind with fist heart up. Look at the
right sword fingers and turn the left toes out 45 degrees. Block down with the
sword while thrusting to South with sword fingers and stepping to Opening
Stance facing South.

Set up by placing the
sword hilt in the right anticubital fossa fist heart down. Thumb strike in sword finger
position, fist eye up, while stepping to a right bow and arrow stance facing
North.

Right Hand Takes Over The Sword
Sweep the sword hand,
fist heart down, to shoulder height while turning the right toes in 45 degrees.
Sweep the sword towards the sternum with fist heart out and cheek of sword
facing west as you shift to a right empty stance facing South. Right hand takes
over the sword as you sweep the left hand to the North and thrust with the
sword, top edge up, to the South while stepping to a left bow and arrow stance
facing South.

Step forward to right
high lotus as the left sword fingers circle to temple block and sword chops
behind along the form line to shoulder height.

Drop the left sword
fingers to the right axilla. Block to the left at
shoulder height, fist heart out. When the block is aligned with left shoulder,
sweep up to temple block. Concurrently, slash, palm upwards along an arc at
shoulder height and step to a left bow and arrow stance. Sword ends cheek up
along the form line.

Bring the left sword
fingers to guard the right wrist and draw the sword over the left shoulder,
lower edge up while shifting to a left empty stance. Continue the arc of the
sword and shift forward to a right bow and arrow stance, sword arm extended and
tip down.

Cloud Sword (
Outstep left. Sweep to a left rooster stance. Cloud sword (

Stab behind to a right high lotus
Step down to right high
lotus and stab behind to ankle height, pushing with empty hand in sword finger
configuration, fist heart out.

Stab forward at knee
height, sword fingers guarding the right wrist and step forward left to left
bow and arrow stance. Turn left toes in as you circle the sword in a clockwise
arc, block to rooster facing west, turn 180 degrees and stab to right bow and
arrow facing south, sword fingers extended behind.

Slide the left foot
forward while dropping to a right seated lotus, drawing the sword to temple
block , bottom edge up, while guarding the wrist with sword fingers. Point with
sword fingers to the South while raising up to a right empty stance.

Hooking step left, chop
to shoulder height and turn to a left empty stance facing north with sword
fingers in a temple block.

Leap to a right inside
empty stance and wash. Inside cloud sword (wash) by dropping the sword tip and
turning the fist heart out. Sweep the tip past the right side in a
counterclockwise arc bringing the sword handle past the right hip with arm
fully extended and sword fingers guarding the right wrist. (Note that cloud
sword (wash) could also be done vertically guarding the left side in a
clockwise arc.) With the sword tip near the right knee, low point (burst) to
ankle height. Keep the right arm straight
and stab forward with the sword by extending the arm from the shoulder and
wrist.

Whip the sword upward
and then withdraw the sword handle past the waist on the right side, sword
fingers guarding the wrist. Leap off the right foot into a right inside empty stance
and point (burst), keeping the right arm straight while stabbing forward and
extending the wrist with the sword tip to shoulder height with sword fingers
sweeping to temple block position.

Drop the left sword
fingers to point straight down and step behind with the left foot to a left
tiger stance. Outside cloud sword (wash) by sweeping the sword tip in a
counterclockwise arc guarding the right side. Once the sword passes the head,
slash diagonally downward while shifting to a right rooster and temple block.
The sword points down and forward with cheek up.

Seated Lotus and Raise
Step down left to a
seated lotus and withdraw the sword, palm facing the body. Sword points forward
horizontally with lower edge up and sword fingers in position above the hilt.

Double point to a left
rooster stance. Point behind with the sword fingers and point forward along the
form line with the sword while shifting to a left rooster stance.

Step down right to a
seated lotus with sword palm up. The sword is pointing along the form line but
with cheek up and sword fingers, heart down, guarding the forearm of the sword
hand. Slash behind with sword, palm up while the sword fingers sweep down and
then up to a temple block in right narrow high lotus stance.

View of hand position
in Seated Lotus:

Leap onto left foot
into a left seated lotus while the sword hand passes overhead from right
shoulder to left shoulder, sword covering the back. Press down with the sword
edge while sinking to the left lotus. Sword tip points behind, top edge faces
down.
Turn the palm down and
sweep the sword in a circle, pivoting on the toe until in a squatting horse
stance. The sword edge travels horizontally a couple of inches off the ground,
lower edge leading the way. The sword motion ends with the sword along the form
line and in line with the stance.

Vertical Cloud Sword And Point
Outside cloud sword and
low point to a right rooster stance. Transfer all weight to the right leg. Drop
the tip and supinate the wrist to sweep the sword in
a counterclockwise arc along the right side of the body. Pull the hand back
with a straight arm so that the sword tip aligns with the right knee.
From outside cloud
sword and point posture, point with a straight standing leg to a right rooster
stance, bringing weightless leg above the waist. Bend at the waist to get the
longest point possible. Sword fingers sweep to a temple block

Turn Around And Guard The Axilla.
Sweep the sword fingers
to the axilla, fist heart up while withdrawing the
sword hand behind the waist so that the sword tip is at the right knee. Use the
momentum of these motions to pivot 180 degrees to the left to a right rooster
stance.

Sword Finger Point, Fist Heart Down
Remain in the right
rooster stance and point with sword fingers, fist heart down.

Step left to a left
inside empty stance. Using the burst/explode technique, stab with the point of
the sword to shoulder height, sword fingers guarding the right wrist.

Step out right to right
bow and arrow, sword finger point, fist heart down, at shoulder height.
Simultaneously, raise the sword hand so that the sword points straight up.

Step left and drop to
left seated lotus, chop down with sword to a low position a few inches above
the ground and guard the wrist with the sword fingers.

Step right to right empty
stance and cut up with the lower edge, drawing the sword hand even with the
right ear. Sword fingers guard the wrist. Step left to left empty stance and
scoop the sword across the center, dropping no lower than shoulder height. Cut
up with the lower edge, drawing the sword hand even with the left ear. Again,
sword fingers guard the wrist.

(Alternative: Back Kick (Flip Kick) And Butt Strike)
Out-step right , step
left, and swing the sword down from the ear in a counter clockwise arc to butt
strike forward at waist height . Lift the right heel forcefully and pause in
this position with the right heel near the buttocks and sword handle forward
with sword fingers guarding the wrist.
(This alternative
sequence is not pictured )
Shift the weight onto
the right foot and out-step left.
(If Butt Strike
executed, continue here…)
Leap onto right toes
and kick the heel out 45 degrees, reversing direction on the form line. Flick
the sword through a counter clockwise arc, cutting with the lower edge of the
sword along the form line. Arms form a 90 degree angle with the vertex at the
head.

Half wash (cloud-sword) in a clockwise arc,
bringing the tip towards the face and drop the body perpendicular to the ground
with the left leg extended and the left sword fingers in temple block position.
Pose in this posture for a brief pause.
(reverse angle)
With right foot
perpendicular to the form line, reverse the direction of the sword, and sweep
in a clockwise arc to the left hip while shifting to a right rooster
stance. Sword fingers guard the wrist.
(Alternatively, Pivot
on the right toes, pulling the heel in so that the foot is parallel to the form
line as you sweep to right rooster stance and complete the cloud sword, drawing
the sword into your center at the tan tian, tip held
up at 45 degrees. Sword fingers guard the wrist. Not pictured.)
(reverse angle)
Drop to a left tiger
stance, cutting down with sword so that sword blade is top edge up and pointing
along the form line hand in chung yin position. Shift
up to a right rooster stance and point with sword and sword fingers in opposite
directions at shoulder height along the form line.

Overhead Chop And
Sweep the sword fingers
in, folding on the elbow, down along the center line and then up to a temple
block while stepping behind with the left foot reversing direction and pivoting
into a left bow and arrow stance. Chop overhead to shoulder height

Step And
Flick To Rooster And
Step right to a right
high lotus stance and cut behind with the sword. Sword fingers are pointing
down along the form line.

Retract, Leap And
Double Point
Draw the sword to the
chest and shift to a right rooster stance. Leap to a left rooster, pointing
behind with the sword and ahead with the sword fingers. Arms extend along the
form line in both directions.

Impale The
Tiger
Step behind with the right
foot and drop to a left seated lotus stance. Drop the sword butt to the ground
with the sword tip up and temple block with the left sword fingers.

Stand up to a narrow
left high lotus stance while pointing with the sword. Sword fingers guard the
wrist. Step behind with right foot and pivot right to a right bow and arrow
stance, slashing horizontally at shoulder height with the upper sword edge,
cheek up.

Turn Around And
Overhead Chop To A Left Bow And Arrow
Pivot to the left,
sweeping the sword fingers to a temple block and cutting in an overhead arc
with the sword to a left bow and arrow stance.

Dust In
The Wind
(previously documented
as Wheel Sword)
Pivot to the right into a right bow and arrow
stance Guard the right wrist with sword fingers and cut down along the left
side. Sweep the sword, leading with the lower edge in a large counterclockwise
arc to level with the right ear while turning the right toes out and stepping
out left to a right empty stance.

This is similar to the
sequence in road 2, except that in road 2, the sword travels in small scooping
arcs along the center line, whereas here the blade scribes large semi-circular
arcs along the sides of the body.
Turn the left toes out
and again sweep the sword in a wide arc leading with the lower edge. This time
the arc is clockwise along the right side of the body. Step out right to a left
empty stance. The sword arc ends with the handle at the left ear.

Hooking step to laying
lotus, temple block and cut up with lower edge of sword.
Turn the right toes
inward in a hooking step and slide the left leg behind the right as your drop
to a laying lotus. In this stance, the left instep lays on the ground and the
left knee is behind the right ankle as you sink to a very low posture. While
dropping into the lotus, cut with the lower edge of the sword in a
counterclockwise arc. The left sword fingers pull into temple block position.
The sword arm is fully extended, the lower edge is up, the wrist is pronated and the thumb points down.
(reverse angle)
Stand up and spin to
left empty stance, sword and fingers angle in at shoulder height. Keep the
sword arm fully extended and rotate the wrist to fist heart down. The sword and
sword fingers point to the center. Stand up while pivoting to the left into a
right empty stance.

Left Outstep, cloud sword, take over sword with left hand, bring
both hands to waist.
Outstep left, step right to a left Tai Chi stance. Wash by lifting
the tip of the sword and rotating it inward in a clockwise arc in the
horizontal plane. Tip the head back to clear the sword tip. When the sword has
completed a full arc and is pointing forward along the form line, take over the
sword with the left hand with the palm at the guard and the fingers pointing to
the butt. The sword lays along the back of the left arm. Bring both hands to
the sides, right hand in sword finger configuration.

Right Step out heel, toe
and temple toss to a right empty stance
Turn the right toes in
and temple toss with the right sword fingers while shifting to a right empty
stance, sword held at the left side.

Step Back And
Step back and temple
toss to right bow and arrow, sword and sword fingers at waist.
Step the left foot back
into a right bow and arrow stance, pull the sword handle back and sweep the
right sword fingers down so that both hands are behind the plane of the hips.
Step the right foot
back to a left bow and arrow. Step the left foot back to standing position and
temple toss right, looking to the left.
Look forward and return
the right sword fingers to the right side. Arms are relaxed and extended along
the sides.
