Slide Block and Cut, Turn Around and Chop
Stand in Wu Chi
posture with sword held in left hand. Unlike other straight sword forms, the
sword is held on the front of the arm, handle down, tip up and blade lying
along the forearm. Twist slightly to the right and lift the arms, palm
up, to shoulder height. When the arms reach shoulder height, fold
the arms at the elbow and bring hands back down to tan tien
as you twist back to center.

Twist slightly to
the left as you continue the motion of the arms to circle back up to shoulder
height. When the arms reach shoulder height, step left to a left
equatorial strike and palm strike with the right hand
while blocking down along the left thigh with the sword hand.

Circle the left
hand up to shoulder height and take over the sword with the right hand while
fading to a right empty stance. Circle the sword to the waist. Half
step left and step in right to a right inside empty stance while stabbing with
the sword, blade edge vertical. Sword fingers guard the wrist.

3. Withdraw the Sword Left and Right
Wrap with the sword
tip by making a small clockwise circle with the sword. Step back left to
a left empty stance and withdraw the sword to
the left , palm facing inward, tip angled down and forward. Sword fingers
guard the right wrist. Step back right to a right empty stance and
withdraw the sword to the right side. Palm faces inward, tip is angled
down and forward, sword fingers guard the right wrist.

Circle the sword to
the waist. Half step left and step in right to a right inside empty
stance while stabbing with the sword, blade edge vertical. Sword fingers
guard the wrist.

Step back left to a
right equatorial stance while slashing backward with the sword. Allow the
momentum to carry the sword full circle and stab downward from overhead, much like Tai Chi’s Push the Little Boat
Downstream. Sword fingers circle up from below to guard the right wrist.

Shift back to a
left rooster stance and slash in a clockwise arc
to the right, perpendicular to the form line, stopping the sword when it
is cheek up outside the right knee. Sword fingers make a matching arc to
the left and join the sword hand at the knee, guarding the wrist.
Step forward right
to a right equatorial stance. Sweep the sword in a counterclockwise arc
along the right side, parallel to the form line and chop overhead to shoulder
height.

6. Withdraw the Sword, Cut, Wrap and Stab
Step back left to a
left high tiger stance and withdraw the sword to head height, palm facing
inward, sword fingers guarding the wrist, tip
angled downward along the form line.

Step behind left to
a right seated lotus and cut with a backhand slash along the form line.
Sword fingers sweep to temple block position.

Using the momentum
of the sword, wrap in a counterclockwise arc. At the completion of the
wrap, stab forward with the sword, palm down and cheek up, along the form line.
Drop the sword tip
and hold the sword handle extended in front of the right shoulder. Pivot to
the left with the point scribing a circle around you. When facing forward
again, shoulders perpendicular to the form line, flip
the right wrist to slash in a clockwise arc while shifting to a right rooster
stance. The sword fingers meet and guard the wrist, the sword is tip down
and cheek up.

Chamber the sword,
step left to a left equatorial stance and stab forward, cheek up, while
sweeping the sword fingers to a temple block.

9.Guard the Shoulders Right and Left
Remaining in the
left equatorial stance, watch the sword as you withdraw it over the right
shoulder. Sword fingers guard the wrist. Turn the left toes out and
step right to a right equatorial stance. Scoop with the sword handle in a
clockwise arc in front of the body and draw the sword to guard the left
shoulder.

Step left to a left
equatorial stance, dropping the sword tip along the center line. Step
right to a left inside empty stance while plucking upward with the sword
tip. Allow the momentum to carry the sword tip behind the body so that
the butt is presented forward. Step out right on the diagonal to a right
equatorial stance and butt strike at shoulder height. Sword fingers sweep
to a temple block.

Chamber the sword at the right hip, sword fingers
guarding the wrist. Step forward left, slightly left of center to rejoin
the form line.
and stab right to a
left equatorial stance.

11. Slide Block and Cut, Turn Around and Chop
Lift the sword handle
and drop the tip backward along the form line. Step back left to a right
seated lotus stance and backhand cut with the sword until the blade is parallel
with the form line. Sword fingers are in a 180 degree angle with the
blade.

Pivot to the left
with the heel of the sword fingers leading the way. Chop overhead and
drop to a left seated lotus stance. The sword cuts down to knee height
with the top edge up and parallel to the form
line. The sword fingers are 180 degrees in a line with the form.

12. Bursting
Chamber the sword
at the right hip, sword fingers guarding the right wrist. Shift the
weight onto the right foot and leap out left to a left inside empty stance
while stabbing forward with the sword, top edge up.

Drop the sword tip
and turn the right palm up. Circle the sword tip around the shoulders
while stepping right and turning right to opening stance. When the sword has
completely circled the head, drop the sword handle into the left palm and bring both hands to the tan tien.
Circle the sword up and step out left to a left equatorial stance while
blocking down with the sword butt and palm striking with the right hand.

Step back right and
turn to the right. Step the left foot in to opening stance and circle the
arms up to shoulder height. Fold at the elbows and push down to the tan tien. Drop hands to sides and end the form.
