The
essence of Hsing Yi spear is San Ti Stance. 60%
weight on rear foot. Look for the 5 elements and Eagle-Bear. According to Yan Gao Fei, Eagle-Bear is the core teaching of Hsing
Yi.
One of
the characteristic moves of Hsing Yi is Beng Chuan, the Crushing Fist. See it in the spear thrusts.
Pay attention to the foot work. Load into the rear foot, half step with the
front foot and spring into the thrust, bring the rear
foot up and stamping it into place.
Be
aware of the tan tien and use it to move the spear
point. When shaking the spear point, use the tan tien,
not the shoulders.
Get
relaxed and stay there. Relaxed in the technical sense, not
the casual sense. Feel your weight in your feet, not your shoulders. Be
aware of the 6 harmonies.
